Lower Hudson Growth Model Analysis
Since 2012, EA has partnered with multiple districts in the Lower Hudson region for an ongoing annual data investigation of research topics related to New York State’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) system. Currently, EA staff works with the Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents, Inc. (LHC) to analyze each district’s student growth data and provide its membership with a better understanding of the make-up and characteristics of the growth estimates.
The LHC is a non-profit educational corporation representing a group of 76 school districts and 4 BOCES, spanning a four county region - Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester - north of New York City. EA provides LHC with a twofold analyses: the first included an overview and explanation of the New York State Growth Model and the statistics provided in the state technical report; the second discusses the results of various statistical analyses run on a subset of the Lower Hudson Council’s districts. The chief aim of this continuing work is to provide the member LEAs with both a deep technical understanding of the growth model employed by the SEA, and to work with the LEAs on advanced applications of that data.
