Lower Hudson Growth Model Analysis
Since 2012, Education Analytics (EA) has partnered with multiple districts in the Lower Hudson region for an ongoing annual data analysis. In the most recent partnership, EA staff worked with the Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents, Inc. (LHC), a non-profit educational corporation representing a group of 76 school districts and 4 Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), spanning a four-county region - Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester - north of New York City.
EA partnered with LHC to analyze districts’ Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) results and provide its membership with a better understanding of their composition and characteristics. EA provided LHC with two main analysis topics:
- An overview and explanation of the New York State Growth Model and the statistics provided in the state technical report.
- A discussion of the results of various statistical analyses run on a subset of the Lower Hudson Council’s districts.
The chief aim of this continuing work is to provide the member districts with both a deep technical understanding of the growth model employed by the state of New York, and to work with the districts on advanced applications of that data.
