Study of Teacher Preparation Experiences and Early Teacher Effectiveness
Education Analytics (EA) has partnered with Abt Associates and Westat on a national study, The Study of Teacher Preparation Experiences and Early Teacher Effectiveness (TPREP), which is being conducted under contract to the U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences. Districts today are being required to hire more and more novice teachers as a large proportion of the current teaching force reaches retirement age. The TPREP study asks the question: "What are the preparation experiences that novice teachers have that are most strongly associated with their effectiveness at improving the achievement of students?" The study will include first, second, and third year teachers and will explore how teachers’ opportunities to learn about specific instructional practices during their preparation translate into greater effectiveness in their early years in the classroom.
